Massage Therapy
Swedish/Therapeutic/Deep Tissue/Sports/Pregnancy Massage
Swedish
massage is the manipulation of soft tissue in the body. Soft
tissue in the body include muscles, ligaments, tendons, and
joints. These manipulations are performed by using hands,
elbows, thumbs, and fists in a particular manner to acheive
a specific desired effect. A few of these effects may include
treating trigger points (knots), decreasing muscle tightness,
increasing flexibility and relaxation, and decreasing stress
levels to name a few. Therapeutic, Deep Tissue and Sports
Massage are all types of Swedish Massage. They are all swedish
techniques used in different contexts.
All massages include placement of Hot Stones on the back
for deeper relaxation.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot
Stone Massage is the application of heated, smooth, Basalt
stones to the body and muscles. Basalt Stones, when heated,
retain heat extremely well. The massage is actually performed
using these hot stones, and when done so, the heat held in
the stones is transferred into the muscles giving a deep
heated relaxation effect. The heat also eliminates aches
and pain. Heat sedates nerves and promotes detoxification
by releasing toxins through the blood that is brought to
the skins surface. It also aids in digestion.
Hot Back Combo
Half Deep Tissue Massage and Half Hot Stone Massage to back,
neck and shoulders. First the muscles are manually massaged
to work out the tension, and then Hot Stones combine the pressure
of massage with deep heat to relax the muscles, increase circulation
and eliminate stress. The best of both worlds to really loosen
you up and get rid of all those knots in your back!
Thai Massage
Thai
Massage is an ancient form of bodywork and is one of the
Arts of Traditional Thai Medicine. Thai Massage is performed
on a mat, the client is fully clothed (we suggest wearing
or bringing a set of loose fitting clothing) and there is
no use of oils or lotions. Thai Massage is a combination
of Shiatsu pressure points, joint mobilizations and passive
relaxed stretching techniques. It is often called "Lazy Man's
Yoga", as all the positions and stretches are done for
you and performed by the therapist.
Thai Massage promotes flexibility, muscle length and function,
and improves balance and posture. As a result it can enhance
sports performance and makes for an excellent sports massage.
Thai massage is also a great post exercise/workout massage
as it helps prevents “next day soreness”. Clients
have left sessions saying they feel “loosened up” and “energized
and invigorated”.
